Our recent winter hike along the scenic Victoria Trail in the Joseph E. Ibberson Conservation Area was nothing short of magical. The snow-covered slopes of Peters Mountain and the quiet beauty of the Appalachian Trail created a serene backdrop for our adventure.
Hikers embraced the wintry chill and enjoyed the unique experience of walking on fresh snow. As one participant reflected, “Everything is prettier when it’s covered in snow. The soft cushion of snow made hiking easier on the body compared to compact dirt and rock. It was cold and slippery at times, but I truly enjoyed every moment.”
The group paused at a shelter to warm up by the fire and share snacks and stories, building connections that made the day even more special.
Winter hiking isn’t just about the destination—it’s about savoring the journey, immersing yourself in nature, and finding new perspectives.
